Holocaust Education Ireland are saddened to learn of the recent death of Josef Veselsky in his 108th year. We extend our deepest sympathy to all his family, spanning several generations.

Originally from Czechoslovakia, Josef joined the Resistance when Hitler invaded his country. He survived the war and eventually made Ireland his home where he settled, married and raised his family contributing to business and sporting life for many decades. Josef became the oldest student to attend Trinity College in Dublin.

Josef lost several members of his family including his parents and brother in the Holocaust and in later life he thought about them constantly.
