The Tomi Reichental Scholarship Fund
As we mourn Tomi’s passing, we acknowledge the extraordinary contribution to Holocaust education and awareness that he made during his lifetime.
Through his association with Holocaust Education Ireland over the past 20 years, Tomi gradually found the courage to speak about his
experiences of the Holocaust. The organisation facilitated his visits to hundreds of schools throughout Ireland sharing his personal experiences of the Holocaust with over 90,000 school children, as well as with people from all walks of Irish life and worldwide. Tomi spoke annually at the national Holocaust Memorial Day commemoration and many other events.
Our work has been shaped and enriched by Tomi’s bravery in sharing his story and we remain profoundly grateful to him.
In 2014 Holocaust Education Ireland established the Tomi Reichental Scholarship Fund to support teachers to access training in Holocaust education on teaching about this important topic in the Irish. classroom. Tomi was delighted when he heard about the scholarship and told us he “could not have been honoured in a better way”. Through his dignity and courage Tomi has left a lasting legacy about the importance of rejecting hatred, antisemitism and all forms of racism.
If you would like to make a contribution to the Tomi Reichental Scholarship Fund, please contact Holocaust Education Ireland by email or phone. In response to many enquiries we have received, we hope that supporting this scholarship offers people an opportunity to honour Tomi’s memory.
